The Park

The park covers an area of 500 decares. Tsar Boris III was a great lover of botany, and with his help the first afforestation around the park began. The first poplars were planted in 1938. Mass afforestation took place in 1955–56.

Before that, the land where the park is located had been a swamp, and to improve it, tons of sand were brought in with small rail carts. Tree species that enthusiasts can see include: Ginkgo biloba, red oak, cryptomeria, liquidambar, black pine, gleditsia, white pine, Weymouth pine, ash and linden, birch, acacia, and many others.
